I don’t have symptoms

Order a home test-kit via the Order a Testing Kit button at the bottom of every page on this website.

After answering a few questions and providing your details, the kit will be posted out to the address you give. The kit contains instructions explaining how you take your samples at home and then you post this back to us in a pre-paid envelope.

Attend an outreach clinic if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ communities you can visit an outreach clinic for HIV rapid testing, Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea tests (offered by Unity partner, Terrence Higgins Trust)

Please see here for the dates and times of our HIV Rapid Testing Clinics in Bristol.

All clinics are free and confidential, and are open to anyone who identifies as LGBTQ+.

I have symptoms or want to speak to a doctor, nurse or health adviser

If you have symptoms or wish to speak with a doctor, nurse or health adviser, there are 3 ways that you can be seen at Unity Central Health Clinic. Please note these options only apply to Unity sexual health services at Central Health Clinic.

Select the options below for more information:

  • Walk-in

Attend Central Health Clinic in person any day excluding Sunday to receive a half hour time slot to be seen that day. The available slots start 30 mins after the advertised opening time for that day. These sessions are very busy and if all slots are filled you may not be able to be seen that day.

    Doors Open
    Monday:        07:30am till 7:00pm  (Walk In Session – 08.00am till 4.00pm)

    Tuesday:       08:30am till 4:00pm  (Walk In Session – 09.00am till 4.00pm)

    Wednesday: 07:30am till 7:00pm  (Walk In Session – 08.00am till 12.00pm)

    Thursday:    08:30am till 4:00pm   (Walk In Session – 09.00am till 4.00pm)

    Friday:          07:30am till 1:00pm   (Walk In Session – 08.00am till 12.00pm)

    Saturday:     08:45am till 12:00pm (Walk In Session – 09.00am till 12.00pm)

Note at times of high demand all the slots may be filled within half an hour of opening meaning you will have to come back on another day.

  • On the day appointments

On Mondays and Wednesdays you can call our booking line on 0117 342 6900 to get an “on the day” appointment for the same day/evening. The booking line is open from 8:30am.

You can book a “text slot” from 5pm to be seen the following day.

    • Text-slots will be available to book from 5pm the day before and until 8am on the day of the booking-in slot.
    • You will receive a confirmation text showing you the time of your appointment. If you are happy with the time offered there is no need to reply to our text.
    • If you need to cancel your slot, text CANCEL to 07950080337
    • Texts are charged by your phone supplier at your current mobile text rate. They will appear on your phone bill as a text sent to “88080”

I want to be seen but its not urgent

For non-urgent appointments you can call our booking line on 0117 342 6900 to arrange an appointment. You may be given an appointment at any of our clinic sites. Some of our other clinics may be closer to you than the Central Health Clinic.

The booking line is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am and on Saturday from 9:30am.

I have been referred by my GP or another healthcare provider

Some people may be referred to our service by their GP or another healthcare provider. Depending on the nature of the referral your GP  may advise you to attend the walk-in at Central Health Clinic or they will write to us and you will receive a phone call or letter with details of your appointment time. You may be given an appointment at any of our clinic sites. Some of our other clinics may be closer to you than the Central Health Clinic.

I am pregnant and want an abortion

If you are pregnant and have decided not continue with the pregnancy or you are unsure,  you can make an appointment with our Pregnancy Advisory Service.

Call the Unity Central Booking Line 03458725435 This number is available 24 hours a day.

You can call yourself or someone else can make the call on your behalf. The staff will ask you for your name, address and your GP details (if you have one). They will make an appointment for you to have either a telephone or face-to-face appointment to discuss your pregnancy options and formulate a plan for you. If you are having difficulty reaching a decision we can give you accurate information about how many weeks pregnant you are and your options.

If you are under 18 years old you will need to identify a supporting adult (someone who is over 18) to support you during the abortion process.
